Monrovia Liberia – A team from the Hearts-field Jackson Atlanta international airport in Georgia is in country to review plans aimed at turning the Roberts International Airport into a cargo hub for Africa.
The team comprises Liberia’s honorary consul to the state of Georgia Cynthia Blandford, Alrene Richards-Barr, Director of International Business, and Elliot Paige Air Service Director of Hearts-Field Airport.
The team is accessing the possibility of establishing a cargo village, something which will position the RIA as a host for Africa’s air cargo station.
Speaking in an ELBC interview, the head of public relations, Ebenezer Wilson, stated that the team has hit the ground running, touring the facilities of the Airport Authority to ensure operational readiness.
Mr. Wilson has also informed ELBC that when agreements are finalized, the training of local staff in areas of need will be first amongst many undertakings.
It can be recalled that in 2017, the Liberia Airport Authority signed a sister airport relations with the Harts-Field Jackson International Airport in Atlanta and the agreement was reaffirmed in 2019.
