Monrovia Liberia – The Liberia water and sewer corporation with support from the millennium challenge compact is currently rehabilitating the main water transmission line from white planes to Monrovia.
The 36 inch transmission line has been in existence for decades and has almost outlived its usefulness.
According to the public relations manager Nipson Todd, when completed, the line will save LWSC about seven hundred thousand annually.
He stated that currently the agency is spending that amount just to generate energy to pump water to Monrovia and its environs.
The new 48 inch pipeline when completed will run from white planes to Congo town.
He stated that this will ease the continuous water outage to customers.
Meanwhile, Nipson Todd said the LWSC is working to curtail and repair damaged on sewer lines that pose environmental threat to citizens in central Monrovia and other parts.
He noted that LWSC lack adequate equipment to handle sewage for the huge population of Monrovia.
According to him, people are also building over the pipeline which is posing serious impediments to their work.
He made the disclosure in an ELBC INTERVIEW Monday.
