Government of Liberia clarifies

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government has clarified that it provided one-point-eight-million United States Dollars to the World Food Program (WFP), to cover administrative cost for the food distribution across the Country.

Contrary to claims that the Liberian Government provided nine- million USD to the WFP for its administrative cost, Information Minister Eugene Nagbe maintained that Commerce Minister Wilson Tarpeh was misquoted when he appeared at the Legislature.

Speaking in an ELBC interview Tuesday, June 16, 2020, Minister Nagbe said:” The entire food distribution exercise throughout the Country cost thirty-million USD.”

The Information Boss asserted that Government has provided twenty-five-million, while the World Bank has given five-million USD.

Minister Nagbe said:” Twenty-point-two million USD went directly to the purchase of the food items, while nine-point-eight-million covered administrative and operational costs.”
