RIA, LOWER MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Liberia Airport Authority (LAA), in collaboration with health authorities and airlines flying to Liberia, has released several measures to safeguard passengers traveling in and out of Liberia.
The Managing Director of the LAA, Bishop Allen Klayee, said:” All passengers must wear face masks and wash their hands before entering the Roberts International Airport, as must as well arrive four hours before the flight.”
Speaking with this station Monday, June 29, 2020, Bishop Klayee further said that no Liberian or foreigner will be allowed to avoid passenger check, in line with the health protocols.
The LAA Managing Director disclosed that the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Incident Management System, has launched a tracking application that will monitor persons arriving in Liberia.
Bishop Klayee said Liberia’s first commercial passenger flight SN Brussels is expected to arrive Monday evening, June 29, 2020.
Meanwhile, the head of the Liberian Airport Authority said the entity in collaboration with the joint security, has also put in several measures for arrivals and departures after the 6pm lockdown period.
Bishop Klayee said:” Free passes will be given to persons who will arrive after the 6pm regulation, to allow them to get to the destination.”
He asserted that for those leaving the country; they have to disclose their travel information to the joint security checkpoints, while on their way to the airport.
At the same time, for persons picking up Special Guests, they will have to show the itenary of the guest at the various checkpoints.
In an effort to ease the pressure on the National Economy, the Government of Liberia set June 21, 2020, as re-opening date of the Roberts International Airport (RIA), in Lower Margibi County, but postponed the re-opening due to the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in the Country.
However, the RIA finally re-opened Sunday, June 28, 2020, with all necessary COVID-19 Preventive Health Measures put in place.
