MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Liberia Revenue Authority, has set October 31, 2020 as deadline for the registration and renewal of school operating permits.
The Director of Communications at the Ministry of Education, Maxim Bleetan, said:” Targeted institutions include private and faith-based schools, as well as technical and vocational institutions.”
Speaking in an ELBC interview Monday, October 26,2020, Mr. Bleetan said private and faith-based schools failing to comply with this deadline the Ministry will not allow their students sit the WASSCE.
Also speaking Monday, Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) Assistant Commissioner for Government and non-for-Profit Division, Eddie Howe, told ELBC that schools can make their payments through direct deposits, or Mobile Money.
Mr. Howe stressed that it is the responsibility of the LRA to ensure that lawful revenue from every revenue generating agency is collected.
