LOWER MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has launched the first post-war airline, “Lone Star Air, Wings of Liberia”.

Speaking at the official launch Friday, October 30, 2020, at the Roberts International Airport in Margibi County, President George Weah termed the initiative as timely, and a big boost to the Liberian Aviation Sector.

The Liberian Leader also disclosed that he has instructed the Ministry of Transport and the Liberian Aviation Authority to give the necessary support to the application of laws and regulations regarding the project.

President Weah said:” It is important to ensure that there is no compromise with the safety of the Liberian people.”  He then commended his Ghanaian partners for the confidence reposed in the Liberian Government.

President Weah expressed the hope that Lone Star Air will fly the airspace of the Country shortly.

Also, the Associate Partner of Lone Star, Eric Banama, says the Company will collaborate with Liberian Aviation Authority to make Liberia a destination of choice, and an Aviation Hub.

Making remarks during the official launch, Mr. Banama said:” The vision is to ensure direct flight from Liberia to the United States of America.”

He paid tribute to President Weah for giving him and his partner, John Youboty, the opportunity to establish a new flight carrier of Liberia.

He said:” Aviation makes a significant contribution to the economy of any country, as it is one of the global industries connecting peoples, cultures, and businesses across continents and provides rapid worldwide transportation network.”

The Flight Career is expected to cover Eleven West African Countries, including Accra, Bissau, Lagos, Abidjan, and Freetown among others.

Similarly, the Managing Director of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA), Bishop Allen Klayee, is praised President Weah for steps taken to safeguard the future of the aviation sector of Liberia.

Bishop Klayee said:” The innovation by President Weah has enabled LAA to keep the sector alive.”

For his part, the Director-General of the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA), Moses Kollie, said:” The entity will work along with the LAA and Lone Star Air to ensure that President Weah’s dream for the aviation sector becomes a reality.”

Mr. Kollie assured the Liberian Leader that with the LCAA technical support, Liberia will gain its position in the international aviation sector.
