Senator Prince Johnson resigns…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Report from the Liberian Senate says Nimba County Senator, Prince Johnson, has resigned as Chairman of the Senate Statutory Committee on National Security, Defense, Intelligence and Veteran Affairs.

The Senate on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, posted on its social media page that Senator Johnson has resigned from the post.

Reason for his resignation is not clear, but recently the Nimba County Lawmaker’s election to the Senate Leadership position came under criticism from the United States Embassy in Monrovia.

The Embassy condemned the election of Senator Johnson, describing him as a notorious warlord with gross human rights violations.

The Senate Leadership earlier said that it was engaging the US Embassy regarding its concern on Senator Prince Johnson and Grand Cape Mount County Senator Varney Sherman.
