MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Criminal Court ‘E’ Resident Judge Serena Garlawolo has complained about massive overcrowdings of prison facilities across Liberia.
Judge Garlawolo made specific reference to the Monrovia Central Prison constructed to accommodate about three-seventy-four inmates.
At present, the Central Prison hosts about one-thousand-three-hundred inmates, far above its capacity.
Judge Garlawolo believes the situation has created serious financial constraints on the Government, while, at the same time, having a negative impact on the Judiciary.
The Criminal Court ‘E’ Resident Judge made the statement on Monday, February 13, 2022, at the opening of Circuit Courts in the Country for the February Term.
