Liberian Senate Summons........

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate has summoned authorities of Ministries of Internal Affairs, Mines, Justice and the Liberia Immigration Service, to discuss the wave of alleged illicit mining across the Country.

It followed a complaint from Sinoe County Senator Milton Teajay, claiming that illicit mining is polluting rivers and creek and damaging the environment.

The Senator made specific reference to Sinoe County, where he said water sources have been polluted, thus affecting the livelihood of rural dwellers.

Senator Teajay added that uncontrollable mining is also depriving the Liberian Government of millions of dollars in annual revenue.

They are expected to appear on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
