MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Some officers of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) are set to be charged for violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).

It followed a Defense Ministry investigation into the June 6, 2022 shooting incident that led to the death of Sergeant Prince Tucker, who has also been recommended for charges, despite demise.

An investigation done by the AFL Military Police is recommending that the five officers be charged for dereliction in performance of duty, conspiracy, false swearing and failure to obey orders.

The investigation also wants the deceased Sergeant Tucker be charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, failure to obey orders and willful discharge of firearm.

Assistant Defense Minister for Public Affairs, Sam Collins, told reporters Monday, June 27, 2022, that investigation established Sergeant Tucker , who was not on active duty, used an AK-47 Raffle assigned to a duty officer to shoot and injured Sergeant Edwin Senders, while trying to stop the deceased from carrying out a shooting spree at the Star Based Duty Station.

According to Minister Collins, the investigation has not established the motive behind Sergeant Tucker’s shooting at a fellow officer and killing himself.

Meanwhile, the wounded officer, Sergeant Senders, is said to be in a stable condition, following a surgery to remove the bullet from his lower right abdomen.
